(Du grec psyché « âme »). Celui qui a développé les facultés de son âme, ou facultés solaires, de percevoir avec plus d’acuité les enveloppes physique, astrale, mentale et parfois éthérique, de la terre et des êtres qui y évoluent.

Cette sensibilité peut se manifester par des états altérés de conscience, qui dépassent ou qui se situent au-dessous du seuil normal de perception, et la personne peut aller puiser dans l’ordinateur de l’esprit subconscient ou supra conscient. Bien que certains emploient ces facultés de façon constructive et avec un certain degré de précision, il reste que le contenu et le choix de l’information véhiculée sont loin d’être toujours fiables.

Le terme « métapsychique » est souvent employé avec une connotation négative comme un synonyme du mot « astral », et a trait à la pénétration et à la manipulation de l’énergie au niveau du [[Special:MyLanguage/astral plane|plan astral]]. Selon les [[Special:MyLanguage/ascended master|maîtres ascensionnés]], celui qui s’est engagé dans le domaine métapsychique, dans la médiumnité ou les phénomènes parapsychologiques, évolue sur le plan astral inférieur. En raison des liens puissants qu’il a ainsi établis avec les entités des plans inférieurs, il retarde son développement spirituel véritable et son accès à la « pénétrabilité » de Dieu.

La véritable maîtrise spirituelle ne se mesure pas à la clairvoyance ou aux phénomènes parapsychiques mais au contrôle divin des feux sacrés du cœur et à l’[[Special:MyLanguage/adeptship|accession à l’état de disciple]] sur le sentier de l’Amour.

Lord Maitreya gave further teaching on these activities in a letter of July 1, 1986:

<blockquote>I would mention the dispensation of astrology, tarot, palmistry, and the I Ching as systems introduced in various periods of history under teacher adepts who had the correct alignment with the inner law. With the passage of time and the increasing enlightenment of the planetary body through the intercession of [[Saint Germain]], these systems through misuse have embodied the vibrations of the astral plane and [[False gurus|false teachers]] who have used them for the influence and control of their pupils and followers. This is why we have forbidden our students to use these systems, except under our direction, sponsorship, and enlightenment.</blockquote>

<blockquote>Of the named, astrology has been pointed out as a key when given and received without fear, [[superstition]], or a sense of unalterable predestination. Nevertheless, some of our students have become caught in the trap of placing too much attention upon their astrology and not enough on their [[I AM Presence]], giving too much weight to the predictions of the planets, and not enough to the preponderance of the Light of the Holy Christ Self and the Great White Brotherhood.
