Needham (1874)]]<br /> <br /> The word '''''tabernacle''''' is taken from the Latin ''tabernaculum'', or “tent.” The tabernacle of the L&lt;small&gt;ORD&lt;/small&gt; (also called the “tent of the congregation”) was the portable sanctuary constructed by the Israelites at God’s behest to house the [[ark of the covenant]] as they moved from place to place in their 40 years of wandering in the wilderness.
