Jasper
Jasper is an opaque quartz of any of several colors with a crystalline structure so fine that no distinct particles are recognized under a microscope.
The New Jerusalem
The Book of Revelation speaks of jasper in association with the the New Jerusalem. John speaks of that city:
And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God.[1]
The most amazing thing about this vision is that it is descending. In other words, John is seeing that there is the absolute possibility of the fusing of Spirit and matter; that we are not to be forever separated as heaven and earth, as a duality. Duality is different from polarity: polarity means that everywhere there must be the two forces of Alpha and Omega; duality means a separation, always seeing life in terms of two, and in fact duality is canceled out by the presence of God.
And her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.[2]
That particular phrase is given as a meditation in alchemy. It is recommended that you find a picture of a jasper, that you find what its alchemical formula is, that you have that alchemical formula written down on paper in front of you, that you go to the altar of your laboratory—the place where you alter energy both in Spirit and in matter—and that you become high priest and scientist as you are one with your own Christ mind. You meditate upon the stone, the crystal, its alchemical formula, and you let God release to you the practical answer about what to do to solve the problems of our cities. This is where the answers are. The answers are in the structure of the molecules and atoms.
And so the Holy City born in the heaven matrix is descending for the fusion with the matter matrix and the fulfillment of the command that Jesus gave us in the Lord’s Prayer, “Thy kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.” That statement gives us the entire goal of our life: that the purpose of being on earth is to make that which is in Spirit manifest in matter.
Jasper is also described as one of the stones in the foundation of the New Jesusalem:
And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.
And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.
And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;
The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.
And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.[3]
These are spheres of consciousness within the causal body—all of them symbolical, and yet all of them becoming concrete in the fullness of time and space.
Symbol of Enlightenment
Revelation chapter 4 also likens the light of the one sitting on the throne in heaven to jasper:
And immediately I was in the spirit; and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.[4]
Sanat Kumara explains the meaning of this vision:
The light of the jasper is the golden light of the crown of life unto the one who opens the door of the crown chakra. I AM opening that door within you, and I AM the open door which no man can shut. I AM opening the door of cycles emanating from the great solar rings of the blue causal body of the Great Divine Director....
I AM the golden light of the mind of God, the jasper that is for the building of the wall of the City Foursquare and for the garnishing of the first foundation. Enlightenment is the foundation of the building of the temple in the Aquarian age. Even so is the jasper the stone of victory, the twelfth, set in gold in Aaron’s breastplate of judgment.[5]
