Sá sem ekki hefur gengið í gegnum helgiathöfn uppstigningarinnar:
(1) One abiding in time and space who has not yet overcome the limitations of the planes of Mater (as opposed to an ascended being, who has ascended into the Presence of God).
(2) One who has overcome all limitations of Matter yet chooses to remain in time and space to focus the consciousness of God for lesser evolution, an unascended master.
