Miraculous Medal

The Miraculous Medal, created by Saint Catherine Labouré in response to a request from the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1830. The text reads: “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee — 1830.”

In the nineteenth century, in a Sisters of Charity convent in Paris, France, Our Lady appeared to a young novice, Catherine Labouré. She gave Catherine the design for a new medal, now known as the Miraculous Medal. On the back are the Hearts of Jesus and Mary side-by-side under the cross, the sign of salvation.

The visitations

On July 18, 1830, around 11:30 p.m., Catherine was awakened by a beautiful, luminous child dressed in white. The child led her downstairs to the sisters’ chapel, where the Blessed Mother appeared to her and spoke with her for over two hours. She gave Catherine the following promise:

When you have sorrows or troubles, bring them to the altar and lay them in the Heart of Jesus. There you will receive all the consolation and strength you need.

Mary next appeared to Catherine on November 27, 1830. Dressed all in white, she appeared standing on a globe with shafts of light streaming from her hands. Catherine described her face as being so beautiful that it would seem “impossible to describe her ravishing beauty.” An oval frame formed itself around Our Lady, bearing the inscription in letters of gold: “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.”

In her account of the visitation, Catherine reported:

I saw rings on her fingers, three rings to each finger, the largest one near the base of the finger, one of medium size in the middle, the smallest one at the tip. Each ring was set with gems, some more beautiful than others; the larger gems emitted greater rays and the smaller gems, smaller rays.

Catherine said Mother Mary explained to her that the gems “are the symbols of the graces I shed upon those who ask for them.... The gems from which rays do not fall are the graces for which souls forget to ask.” In this apparition, the Blessed Mother detailed for Catherine the images she wanted placed on the front and back of the medal. She instructed Catherine that it was to be worn around the neck and said, “Graces will abound for those who wear it with confidence.”

The meaning of the medal

Mother Mary has spoken of her intent in releasing this dispensation:

Many of you are aware of the power of the focuses of light that manifest in form in various ways as jewels of light. You will recall that in the last century, in the year 1830, I appeared to one to describe the Miraculous Medal. And in my appearance, I showed the jewels that I wear on each of my fingers, focusing the virtues of God that are to be in manifestation in man. And I gave to that sweet soul who communed with me the direction for having the Miraculous Medal made. And so it has been made, and it has been worn for over a century by those who believe in the power of the Mother flame.

Now you see there are always those who intend to make merchandise of men, and therefore, we of the heavenly hosts know that if we give a revelation that will impart some measure of income to those who are involved in it, given what the mortal consciousness is, there will be always someone who sees that he can profit from the credulity of the holy innocents. Thus, in giving the revelation for the Miraculous Medal, we have a means of focusing our image, our matrix, over the very heart of the faithful ones. For you see, it is only the faithful who would deign to wear a medal of the Virgin Mother or of Christ Jesus or the star of David or the image of the Buddha. And thus we seal each medal in the flame and in the fire of the perfect concept of the divine religion, the divine science and the protection of the soul for her incarnation. Thus, this is an action of talismanic magic, and we are able then with our blessings to circumvent those who hold themselves pious before men, those who perhaps read the ritual of the Mass, but have darkness in their hearts, and we reach directly the children of God upon earth. This, then, is the means that we are forced to use to reach directly the little children.

The God of Gold and God Tabor have spoken of the value of wearing this medal:

Your body temples must become adjusted to the vibrations of gold. Your children must become adjusted to its vibrations. And therefore it is well that they will carry the medallion of beloved Mother Mary of the Miraculous Medal, which focuses not only the gold of my consciousness but the Mother consciousness of gold in her protection and in the Electronic Presence of the Virgin Mother, whose golden consciousness was able to receive the Divine Manchild. And through this gold, you see, we anchor the immaculate conception of the Cosmic Virgin whereby your children and you yourselves may receive within your heart flame the true birth of the Divine Manchild, the Christ consciousness in this age.
