Señor o maestro; jefe. Cada uno de los siete rayos tiene un Chohán que concentra la conciencia crística del rayo, lo cual en realidad constituye la ley del rayo que rige su uso justo en el hombre. Tras haber personificado y demostrado esta ley del rayo a lo largo de numerosas encarnaciones, y pasado iniciaciones tanto antes como después de la ascensión, el candidato es nombrado para ocupar el cargo de Chohán por el Mahá Chohán, «Gran Señor», a su vez el representante del Espíritu Santo en todos los rayos.
